At UTA, a core group of photonics and optics faculty members (~10) is actively working on a range of related research topics. There are also even more research groups at UTA (over 20) that apply photonics technology to address the challenging issues facing different scientific and application areas, from data centers to
consumer electronics, from high energy physics to space physics, from analytical chemistry to environmental monitoring, from
novel materials to tissue engineering, from structural health monitoring to optical imaging/sensing. All these activities support
all the research themes in UTA Strategic Plan 2030 (Health and the human condition, Sustainable communities, Culture & social
transformations, Data-driven discoveries, and Global environmental impact).
