Arumugam Elumalai is a Senior Hardware Engineer – ADAS Compute, formerly a Principal Hardware Engineer, with 18+ years of experience, including 9+ years in automotive ADAS and active safety systems. He is currently working at General Motors, contributing to the design and development of ADAS compute platforms, vision ECUs, smart cameras, remote camera modules, and domain controllers supporting Level 2 to Level 3+ autonomous applications. He has strong expertise in high-speed digital design, including SoCs, vision processors, DDR/LPDDR memory, SERDES (GMSL2, FPD-IV), MIPI CSI-2/D-PHY, HDMI, PCIe, and automotive Ethernet. Arumugam has led multiple programs from RFQ and hardware architecture through production release. He brings solid hands-on experience in microcontroller-based systems, power management, and mixed-signal electronics. His background includes signal integrity, power integrity, EMC support, DFMEA, and safety-aligned hardware development. He has successfully led onsite and offshore teams, supported DV/PV validation, and driven cost-optimized BOMs. Arumugam works closely with software, systems, manufacturing, and suppliers to deliver robust, production-ready ADAS solutions.
