Clay Huber is the Director of Workforce Development for the Texas A&M Semiconductor Institute. He convenes industry, educators, government, and nonprofits to connect K12 through Ph.D. students and working professionals to educational programs created to meet the growing workforce needs of the resurgent Texas semiconductor industry. His focus is on creating viable pathways for Texas learners from a variety of areas, including the military talent pipeline and high school dual-credit Career and Technical Education, to prepare them for careers in surging industry.
He is a member of both the Education Public Policy Advisory Committee and the Advanced Manufacturing Economic Development Committee of Greater Houston Partnership where he advises on and supports policies that strengthen the region’s education-to-workforce pipeline through collaboration with industry, education, and civic leaders. He also sits on the Workforce Development Committee of Invest Greater Brazos, the private-sector component of the Greater Brazos Partnership, where he advises and molds economic development policy and programs centered on workforce in the five counties of the Brazos Valley.
Prior to his current role, Clay served a 20-year career in the United States Navy as a helicopter pilot, weapons and tactics instructor, training director, and officer in charge of a deployed helicopter detachment after starting as an enlisted nuclear technician and being selected for an enlisted commissioning program.
