Manimozhi Sekar is a Senior Test Engineer in Silicon Photonics at GlobalFoundries, where she develops and runs electrical–optical tests for next-generation photonic devices. She focuses on improving optical tester efficiency, reducing test time, running R&D measurements, and tackling unique, complex, non-recurring challenges that directly advance GlobalFoundries’ silicon photonics technology roadmap. Her work also involves testing emerging and breakthrough photonic materials, keeping her at the forefront of silicon photonics innovation.
Earlier in her career, she tested and characterized semiconductor devices made of diamond for RF and high-power applications at Advent Diamond, building a rare hands-on perspective across electronics and photonics
With a Master’s in Computer Science and a Bachelor’s in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Manimozhi combines programming, hardware, semiconductor and solid-state device physics, electrical characterization, and silicon photonics test expertise to explore why testing photons can be so different — and sometimes trickier — than testing electrons. She applies this experience to provide practical insights for engineers working on silicon photonics and advanced device testing.
