Microelectronics US Announces Steering Committee Ahead of Inaugural 2027 Austin Event
AUSTIN, TX — October 7, 2026 — Microelectronics US today announced the formation of its Steering Committee. Leaders from NVIDIA, AWS, Siemens, GlobalFoundries, Synopsys, Honeywell, AMD, Cisco, Ericsson and imec convened to help shape the content, speaker program, and partner ecosystem for the inaugural Microelectronics US conference, taking place May 4–5, 2027, in Austin, Texas.
Microelectronics US is designed to tell one connected story, from silicon to intelligent systems, bringing together semiconductors, advanced packaging, photonics, embedded systems, AI infrastructure, and data centers, sectors that have historically been served by separate, narrowly-focused trade shows. The event will be hosted in the heart of Austin's "Silicon Hills," one of North America's fastest-growing hubs for hardware innovation.
The Steering Committee brings together senior engineering leaders, technologists, academics, and industry media spanning the full electronics stack — from hyperscale infrastructure and semiconductor manufacturing to defense, telecom, and academia. Members will help guide the event's direction by identifying industry trends, shaping content and agenda, recommending speakers, introducing sponsors and exhibitors, promoting the conference, and helping innovate the attendee experience throughout the planning process.
Founding Steering Committee members:
- Gary Anderson – Director, Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships, ATI
- Pete Bernard – CEO, Edge AI Foundation
- Priya Boopalan – Semiconductor Life Cycle Manager, ZF
- Raffaella Borzi – VP, Strategic Partnerships, imec
- Nitin Dahad – Editor in Chief, EE Times
- Harry Foster – Chief Scientist, Verification, Siemens

"This committee reflects the full ecosystem it takes to deliver intelligent systems, from R&D through to the scaling of real-world deployment," said Michael Adeniya, Group Event Director, Microelectronics Global. "We've deliberately brought together experts who span that entire journey, so the show's content, speakers, and partnerships are shaped by the people actually building the future of this industry, end to end."
The committee's early discussions centered on Austin's growing profile as a hub for silicon, AI infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing - including its expanding talent base, its role as a landing pad for major manufacturing investment, and its position as an event connecting parts of the value chain that most industry shows address in isolation.
"One of the real values of this show is the connected focus - bringing together the different technology areas that must work together to deliver a final solution," said Mike Gianfagna, SemiWiki staff and industry consultant. "We often find the experts get stuck in one lane - design, or advanced materials for example. But here, it's right there in the name. Microelectronics US has a chance to get above that noise and tell the full story, from silicon to the systems it enables."
“Austin’s trajectory is remarkable - from the talent emerging from our universities to the significant investment in next-generation infrastructure by companies across the region,” said Farhan Rahman, Head of Ericsson Austin R&D, Ericsson. “Bringing that energy directly to the engineers and researchers shaping the future of intelligent systems is exactly the kind of impact this event can have on the region.”
Microelectronics US will feature two days of programming across four stages, including a dedicated Discovery Stage for live demos, workshops, and the "Talent Foundry" — a workforce-development initiative connecting students and early-career engineers directly with industry experts. The event builds on the momentum of Microelectronics UK, which draws 4,500 experts, 180 technology partners, and 120 speakers in only its 2nd edition.
Microelectronics US is targeting 2,500+ attendees and 100+ exhibiting partners for its 2027 edition. Strategic partners supporting the event include RISC-V International, the Edge AI Foundation, and the Austin startup community.
